Countdown To Party
Leap On Over Here This February 29th For An Extra 2012
Geo Event At Schlotzsky's Deli
When: 6:30 PM
Why: An extra chance to meet and spend some quality time
with some geofriends and score the date on your statistics
calendar.
Googling leap year traditions and explanations yields some
interesting results: In some countries February 29th is the only
day a woman can propose marriage to a man and in the old days if
the man refused such a proposal he owed his spurned suitor a silk
gown and a kiss — provided she was wearing a red petticoat at
the moment she popped the question.....This one's a real hoot! The
Civil Code of the Republic of China since 10 October 1929 implies
that the legal birthday of a leapling is February 28 in common
years: If a period fixed by weeks, months, and years does not
commence from the beginning of a week, month, or year, it ends with
the ending of the day which precedes the day of the last week,
month, or year which corresponds to that on which it began to
commence. But if there is no corresponding day in the last month,
the period ends with the ending of the last day of the last
month.
WooHoo! Now that's what I'm talkin bout, just
sayin!
Hey, this get together will be nothing fancy, in fact you're
on your own for everything as I don't have any "Extra" money. I
will however try to convince the deli that there is an old February
29th tradition of passing out free warm cookies, we'll see how that
goes.
If anyone's birthday is today let me know and if ANYBODY
has something they would like to say, you'll get a chance around
7:30 PM.
