The farm Rheboksfontein was founded in 1943 by Oupa Paul and Ouma Sannie Ferreira. They farmed with Merino sheep and Jersey cattle. In Nov 1944 they had their only son, Buchner Ferreira who took over the farming responsibilities at an age of fifteen and is still very much active in the farming community today. The name Rheboksfontein derived from a natural spring fountain located on the farm, still active today, and herds of Rhebok. The number of the Rhebok declined to only a few due to illegal poaching.
