This is a small container just big enough for small swag.
It is the first in a series of caches to recognize the history of the local school district.
At the turn of the 20th century the area was divided into four districts across two different counties. Adams township, North Kingman, and Clarksville school districts were located in Clinton County, and Harveysburg was located in Warren County.
In 1959 the schools consolidated to one larger district, Clinton-Massie. The name Clinton-Massie comes from the areas of the original schools. Clinton County contributed three schools to the new district, so their name was recognized first while the township in which Harveysburg was located, Massie Township, contributed the second part of the district’s name.
Clinton-Massie’s school mascot became the falcon. Local stories say that is due to the presence of a nest of falcon’s near where the new school was built. The falcon’s were said to watch over the school and its students.
This cache is located at the site of Kingman, one of the original four school districts in the Clinton Massie region. The site has now become a set of apartment buildings. The area where the student’s would play is still used as a public use baseball field. This is a HIGH muggle area in the summer months. Cache with stealth!! Due to the high muggle presence, please hide the container as well or better than you found it. Please park at the ball field.
UPDATE: Recently the apartments were condemned. The building is now crumbling and looks desolate. This does not affect the cache as it is a good distance away from the building. It is a shame to see a piece of local history in such disrepair.
