YCH: FAIL. Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

flaffle: I'm sorry to remove the only cache along this run that's pretty much a guaranteed find. To say this was not a planned placement would be an understatement. Since I am retiring the rest along here, I didn't see the point in keeping this one live as it wasn't really a "flaffle" cache. Whatever that means.

I hope that a few folks will actually figure out how to do the shuttle loop as if you hike the whole trail you will really get a good hike and some great scenery. Thanks goes out to the brave few that made the hike and had the sense to make their way back out.

Geocache Description:

York County Hikes – People play this game for a variety of reasons. For us, geocaching represents a way to explore the natural beauty hidden around us. We decided to place a series of caches that will take you to some lesser used parts of the county and will hopefully get your heart pumping at the same time. Have fun, be safe, and enjoy all of what York County has to offer!

A cache dedicated to misadventures of your own making. Here's a brief list of the things I failed to do the night I placed this cache:

-File a trip plan with someone letting them know your plans and expected return time.
-Familiarize yourself with the trail and possible outs (there aren't any legal ones as it turns out).
-Check your electronics to make sure they are working, or better yet, not be dependent on them at all.
-Turn back when you realize you are in unfamiliar territory and have no idea where you are going.
-Turn back after you have lost the trail.
-Allowing adequate daylight to complete a hike, particularly one you are unfamiliar with.
-Never rely on a cell phone in the woods.
-And there has to be at least four more total failures as a responsible hiker...

Really, this is a wonderful and very scenic hike from Papermill Rd. I wouldn't have ended up that far out if it wasn't! Be prepared for some miles. Though I didn't run track, it should be around 7 miles RT if you do an out and back. Outside of the distance, the hike is relatively easy and up until a bit beyond the cache, very well marked and easy to follow. I know there is another way in from the Cold Cabin area but I haven't found it....

There are two stocked Lock and Lock containers in the cache. Feel free to take them without trade.

A note on the placement. This is where I first realized I was in for a long night and I wasn't carrying that can around anymore which is why there is such deviation from my normal hide. My failure is your easy find. Enjoy!
