A Traditional Lock Box in a camouflage bag, located in a straightforward spot, with a hill to climb from either of the car parks. The finder will be rewarded with some beautiful views of Moray and beyond. Why not combine it with the other caches on this hill?
A simple find in excellent GPS coverage. Its a small hike up to get there.
The Tappoch was for many Centuries an
Island in the Sea. Once the sea receded and it silted up it was known as 'Warly' or Warlock hill in the 1700s, and also as Gallows Hill(?) at least once in the distant past. Bronze Age spears and Axeheads have been discoved here and a large male (for the time, at 6ft) skeleton was recovered from a cist in 1985 and dated at 2000BC. The Ghosts of 5000 years of history walk this hill.
Parking is in one of two places: N57 41.074 W003 26.444 or N57 40.960 W003 25.831. Both are private car parks for the stables but are available for you. Please respect this and watch for horses. It's obvious where you are going (there are signposts!) but you can branch off and enjoy the hill (again - watch for horses). I regularly see Fox, Deer and Hares bigger than the HamsterHound Springers! Please beware of Gorse and sharp pine needles if you have small children, although I have tried to avoid this. The hill has been planted with young pine and you will not need to go into the woods to get this one.
Thanks to S. Duncan, WestBank Farm, for permission to place this GeoCache on the Hill
