Another fine sandstone building is the Girls’ Seminary in Wessels Street. Pastor Theron and his wife Charlotte established the seminary to provide the correct Christian education for the girls of the town. The building had its origin in 1878 but the continued growth of the project came to a jarring halt with the arrival of British forces during the Anglo-Boer War and the mass transfer of Bethlehem residents to concentration camps in Harrismith and Ladysmith. Over the years it has undergone a number of changes both in function and facilities. currently it is the girls hostel for Truida Kestell Primary School
