Geocache Description:

Terrain is flat but can get muddy after rain. Sensible footwear advised. The final cache location is 160ft from the main path so not wheelchair friendly sorry. Please remember to replace cache well into hiding place. Thanks

My first cache, which I have decided to place in an area I spent many hours as a geokid riding my bike, climbing trees and collecting frogspawn.

This footpath (known locally as The Dramroad) was at one time the railway line taking coal from Dyffryn and Bryncoch to Skewen Wharf via Skewen incline. Sadly there is little in the way of physical evidence here now.

After finding the cache why not locate the bench near the cache site and take in the superb views of the 272m / 892ft high Drammau Mountain rock face towards the west.

Although Skewen (Translates as Sgiwen in Welsh) has a population of 8500 and is the biggest village in Wales, there are only a handful of caches in this area. I hope to add more shortly.

I have added a waypoint of:

N 51 40.172
W 003 50.220
to mark the start of the trail and recommended on-street parking at Highland Gardens.

Cache placed with the kind permission of the Woodland Trust.

Happy and safe Caching!!
