Tuttle Educational State Forest; Located in the Gamewell Community, foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The Tuttle Education State Forest boasts a wide variety of pines and hardwoods plus rolling terrain and clear streams. These features are accessible by a series of well-marked trails accented by exhibits and displays that explain the ecology of the managed forest. The forest contains 290 acres of forestland. Ranger-conducted classes are available to groups of 10 or more visiting the forest. These classes have been designed to meet various science and social studies curriculum guidelines. One of the more interesting attractions is the Talking Tree Trail plus numerous other audio presentations. Open picnic sites with tables and grills are available at the forest, as well as a spacious shelter complete with a massive stone fire place and plenty of seating.

Reservations for the shelter are required.

Open Mid-March to Mid-November (Closed on Mondays)
