Milford is small town situated between the Delaware River and the Hakihokake Creek in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. It has a history of various types of mills dating back to the mid-18th century; the remains of a grist mill from 1798 can be seen next to the bridge connecting Milford and Upper Black Eddy, PA. Transportation across the Delaware River was originally provided by ferry. In 1842 a wood timbered covered bridge was built, but was eventually replaced by a steel bridge which was extensively rehabilitated in 2011.
This is an easy 4-stage multi cache which will take you to or across three bridges and two monuments. All stages are within walking distance. Information will be collected at three places to determine the coordinates for the final cache. At the posted coordinates (stage 1) you will find a sign with the year the bridge was built. A short walk away along Bridge Street is a monument (stage 2) where you need to determine the number of words in the top line. To reach stage 3 you will go north along Water Street. At the monument, determine the number of years the war lasted and the number of Milford men who served in the war.
Stage 1: Date structure built = ABCD
Stage 2: Number of words on first (top) line of monument = E
Stage 3A: Number of years the war lasted = F
Stage 3B: Number of Milford men who served in the war = GH
Final Stage (cache) = N40 34.(A+C)DB. W075 0(G+H).(E-A)FH
Cache contains a log book and pencil with room for small trade items.
Parking coordinates are for the Municipal Lot next to the Presbyterian Church, and is approximately half-way between the first and final stages. Additional parking is available along Bridge Street near stages one & two and limited parking is near the 3rd and final stages.
Congratulations to Globe-Trotters for FTF and to Team Sergeantsville for STF and claiming the FTF prize.
