Geocache Description:

Battleships are named after States. Several states have had more than one hull to host their names.
There have been two Battle Ships named the USS Missouri.

USS MISSOURI BB11 sailed from January 12, 1903 until September 9, 1912. The ship was recommissioned March 16, 1914, Decommissioned September 8, 1919. It was then sold to J.G. Hitner & W.F. Cutter of Philadelphia on January 26, 1922. It was scrapped due to the IAW Washington Treaty.
The USS Missouri BB63 (The Mighty MO), was commissioned from June 11, 1944 until February 26, 1955. It was recommissioned again March 31, 1992. It is located 1,000 yards from the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor; the Missouri was opened as a museum January 29, 1999.
