CCC NITE #76: A-one, an-a two!... Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

paddlehikers: After six years of opening up the new CCC Event-year at Farrel's, it just keeps getting better! Thank you one and all for continuing to remind us that this world is still full of friends we have yet to meet and friendships that continue to blossom more heartedly over time.

Thanks too for the hefty load of food brought to share. It was delivered the next morning to the local pantry was received with an awkward amount of joy displayed by the volunteer staff. It seems we... YOU... the Central Ct. Cachers were already remembered from the past post-holiday deluge and for it to continue was apparently not something they count on or have become accustomed to. Let's just say it was appreciated beyond expectation. We will continue to impose upon you in this effort for as long as we can host the event. Do your best to hurt us. We'll rent a truck. You rock!

Another thanks to everyone who grabbed travel bugs, logged it and moved them on! We shouldn't have to even mention this, but this is the first year that we did not end up with half a basket at nights end and the first year that we can archve the event with all accounted for!! Did we mention you rock!?

We love you all. Thank you. See you next year!

Geocache Description:

Once again it's time to ring in the new year with caching friends old and new at Farrell's Restaurant on Route 66 in Portland. And as always, we feel compelled to give the evening a theme based on the new year. So here we go... A-one, an-two!...

For those too far removed from from the "Boomer" generation, the guy on the left is Lawrence Welk, an icon from the black and white television variety show era. He was only nine years old the last time a year ended with "1-2", but as an immigrant orchestra director on national TV later in life, he had the world convinced that every song started with "A-one, an-a-two..." Click on his name if you want to get more aquainted with his influence.

If you don't care, that's okay. Just come on down to Farrell's on the 10th and enjoy the company of friends, those you may already know and those you will meet. We're sure you will have a Wunnerful, Wunnerful time. In any event, it will be better than a Polka in the eye with a sharp stick (or baton as the case may be).

While it is not a requirement that you do so, we ask once again that you consider bringing a non-perishable food item or two which we will forward to the local food bank. Your generosity in the past has struck a note down there and if we can find it, we'll bring along the card of thanks addressed to the Central Ct.Cachers we were sent as a result of last year's lode.

The official gathering starts at 7:00 p.m. but it's always a good idea to come earlier for dinner. Be sure to check out the MENU and come hungry. You can expect great food, great service and a welcoming staff.

The Central Connecticut Cacher's Nite Out is an evening gathering on the 2nd Tuesday of most months. Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend...you don't have to reside in CT, and you certainly don't have to be an experienced cacher...new folks are most welcome! Let us know if this is your first event as we'd like to get acquainted. This event features new or rotating hosts every month, and changing locations. If you have an interest in hosting, please contact KD&MS. As host, you’ll select a location; get the coordinates; and copy and paste the event page and resubmit. There are a number of places in the Greater Hartford area to enjoy good food and drinks. Locations should be kid friendly, have no admission fee and be within the Central Connecticut/Greater Hartford area. Cachers from outside of the area are also encouraged to host, but we do ask that the event itself be held in the central CT area.
