There have been a few great caches hidden in the south section of Ministik Bird Sanctuary for a while now. Most are on the way to or near Mandy Lake and they're well worth seeking out. In 2010, more caches have been appearing well north of Mandy Lake, most accessible from the entrance at N53 18.441 W112 55.688. I've had the pleasure of walking that trail both solo and with a group, and that access point will not disappoint if you're looking for a good hike.
But there's another way in to those northernly caches: an established trail connecting the south area near Mandy Lake to the trails further north. It's quite the walk, but to many cachers, that's the point of the whole thing. If you're new to the area you'll definitely have the feeling of exploring brand new parts of the earth, parts that are well, well off the beaten path.
From the parking coordinates, there are two ways in this cache (see a pic of my track below)
1. The Express Route
This trail will take you due east from the parking coordinates to "Ministik South Junction". It looks like a seldom travelled trail, but a trail it is. Use the "Now go straight east" waypoint below to make sure you merge with the better, wider trail.
2. The Scenic Route via Mandy Lake
This is the route you'll want to take to start out on an established road and to nab a few of the excellent long-time resident caches near Mandy Lake.
My figure eight path in via the Express Route to Ministik South Junction, east to the Waskehegan Trail, looping around to this cache and then south via Mandy Lake and back to parking was a 9.5 km hike, so please be prepared (water, snacks, etc) for that kind of outing.

The Hide
Well, it's an easy find. For those who venture out, I just know I'm going to get "saw it from 30 feet away" comments in the logs. That's fine with me; the journey is the point here. FTF prize is a small, extremely coveted roll of camoflaged toilet paper I was lucky enough to win at a recent event in Camrose. (Hey, that's all I had).
