This is a piece of public land, that is not designated as a park.
Public awareness is the first step in getting public land dedicated as parkland.
The other Inglis Park is in lower Gibsons, across from Pioneer Park (see GC137C1 - BC Spirit Quest #11: The Gibsons). It is mostly two parking lots but offers a stunning view of the waterfront and stands adjacent to 'Stonehurst', the historical Inglis family home.
Dr. Frederick Inglis, a graduate of the University of Manitoba, came to the Gibsons area in 1913 and provided medical care for the Gibsons and Sechelt districts from 1913 to 1945. He was also Medical Officer for the Sechelt Indian Residential School. In 1945, his son Dr. Alan Inglis assisted with his father's practice. Another son, Dr. Hugh Inglis, also practiced medicine in Gibsons.
Inglis nursed the sick and nurtured social democracy, housing the family of Methodist minister J.S. Woodsworth, a pacifist war objector who went on to found Canada's CCF party in 1932.
