Geocache Description:

A small blue container with a logbook, pen and a couple of smaller trading items.

Gold was found near this location in 1862 by William Fox. Running short on supplies, Fox collected as much gold as he could and returned to Dunedin to cash in his new-found wealth. After stocking up on supplies Fox returned to the Arrow River but was followed by two men who showed up a while later. Fox initially kept them captive but after a couple of days he realised this was not a long-term solution so released them. The men filled their pockets with as much gold as they could and returned to Dunedin... and the Gold Rush began!

Gold can still be found in the river but be careful not to over-capitalise in your new mining venture!! :)
