Geocache Description:

This geocache takes adventure seekers on a 9-stage tour of murals in Steubenville, Ohio followed by a modest hike through some woods.

Stages 1-9: Virtual Stages (Questions to Answer)
Stage 10: Small-Sized Geocache

The City of Steubenville, Ohio is sometimes called the "City of Murals" because within its city limits are at least 22 professionally painted murals. All of these murals depict some aspect of Steubenville's rich history. To discover the coordinates for the final stage (the only geocache container), you will tour 9 of Steubenville's murals and answer simple questions about them. Each answer corresponds to a number that you will eventually use to find the geocache. So remember to print this web page and bring it with you on your adventure!

Other Important Information:
  • This geocache was placed with explicit permission from Judy Bratten and the City of Steubenville providing that geocachers are respectful of murals, mural locations, and the area of the final location.
  • Most of the murals are available at all times, but the location of the final stage is only open from dawn to dusk daily. Give yourself ample time to complete. If you are at the location of the final from dusk to dawn, you are trespassing and breaking the law.
  • Some of the mural locations are in not-so-nice areas of the city. For safety purposes, I recommend attempting in daylight with a friend. If you can answer the questions provided without leaving your vehicle, do so.
  • Be aware of traffic, potential construction, and that some of the murals are located on one-way streets.
  • If you are attempting to complete in one trip, average time to complete is about 2 hours.
