Geocache Description:

A quick and easy cache located at the site of the former Hellesdon railway station along the pleasant Marriot's Way.

Parking can be found at N 52° 38.594 E 001° 14.793, or alternatively at N 52° 38.631 E 001°
14.881.

A restored Victorian railway bridge can be found a few
minutes walk from the cache at N 52° 38.577 E001° 14.964.

The cache itself is a small clip-lid lunch box located near the former station platform, and contains a logbook, some pens and pencils and a couple of toys all in a resealable freezer bag.

This is my first cache, hope to place more in the near future!

Hellesdon railway station is a former railway station in Norfolk which served the area of Hellesdon, today an outer suburb of Norwich. It opened on the 2nd December 1882 and was closed on the 15th September 1952, six years before the rest of the line.

Parts of the platform walls still survive today on both sides of the tracks, however the station itself has long since been demolished and the site is extremely overgrown.

A clean-up and restoration project for the railway station was carried out by the amateur group Friends of Norwich City Station and resulted in clearing the platform wall and several signs from overgrowth.
