Zaphod (1st Seedling of the Meerkat Burrow Cache) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Cayuga Crew: I went out to check on this one today and found that the original hiding spot had been rendered unusable by the forces of nature. Rather than altering the hide I decided to archive it. The bright side in all of this is that someone decided to stash a Yuengling in the can which provided me the opportunity to give this cache a final toast before pulling it.

Thanks to all that visited.

Geocache Description:

Our first find of the new year was the Meerkat Burrow Cache GC3A18C. That cache contained 35 micro containers representing members of the Meerkat Clan that the owner, a tough looking hombre named Cache Hunter 25 wished to have wander far and wide. Zaphron is the first Meerkat to leave the Manor and headed north to visit Chestnut Ridge Park.

Despite Szuchie urging me to not take a micro for rehiding from the Meerkat Burrow Cache I felt a certain obligation to the owners of that cache to grab one of the seedling caches and move it along as they requested. Now I won't say that Szuchie didn't offer compelling reasons to see his side of things and the truth be known he made me think about it enough to come up with a plan that I think will keep all parties content. You see I went out and hid that micro named Zephron just like Cache Hunter 25 wanted but I kind of altered it slightly to keep Szuchie happy as well. What we ended up was a micro riding bareback on a 30 cal hidden in traditional meerkat hiding spot. The cache ratings were calculated with the hike in from the winter parking coords factored in which we estimate to be about .65 miles each way along paved park roads. What special about this one is that we get to light up the snowmobile and ATV attributes as you can ride them (with the necessary permits) to a point about 250 feet from the cache. You should also know I thought long and hard about what to do with the winter accessible icon as I hid it in winter and I had no trouble accessing it. Then again it hasn't snowed awful much yet. Easiest winter parking is in the Newton Rd lot. Summer parking is nearly on top of the cache and will shave a full star off of the terrain rating.
