In this deserted and very old granite quarry in Aswan, the old Egyptian stone masons tried to hack out an Osiris statue. They didn't finish their job so the unfinished statue is still in its place and securely fixed to the ground.
Entering the site is at your own risk. Remember it is a deserted quarry so not all terrain is as stable as it looks.
The statue is covered up with a thin layer of sand. Please put the sand (and rocks) back in place after finding the statue (and of course taking a picture of you with Osiris).
Osiris was a very important Deity for the old Egyptians. He rules over the after world. But every dead person will become an Osiris once properly buried. So be careful with the statue, think about it as both a historic important relic and a beautiful piece of granite.
