Geocache Description:

Film canister, just past, not in, St Mary's Burial Ground
At time of laying contents included log, pencil, silver bracelet for FTF.(don't get excited!) and silver-coloured decision dice. No room for anything else.

I have been trying to lay this cache for 3 days..on New Year's Day 2012 I was interrupted by a PC exercising police dogs, so made a tactical withdrawal. At last, today it is done...in a hailstorm.

It is a little further on than the parking area for one or two cars ..as this is now very litter-strewn and is clearly a teenage hang-out!I will come back and do a trash-out operation.Parking is possible on the main road.

The church was built in 1819 and demolished in 1959..due to dry rot and its increasingly inconvenient location.
The last interment was in 1974.
Within the grounds are 3 war-graves looked after by the War Graves Commission, and a statue of Jesus Christ commemorating 2 of the priests.
It was a barn-shaped church, ornate inside. The font was of black and white marble.
A greenhouse was used by Father Cromblehome, 1892-1905 and1908-1923......he was an acclaimed orchid expert.
It is a nice little churchyard; try to find time to read the information board and wander around.
