Kaunos Parking.

This cache is the first in a series which takes you around the Ancient City of Kaunos and will either be the start or the end of the Pirates trail which links our other caches together all the way back to our Waterfall cache near Koycegiz at the North end of the lake and the Amazing Castle series. GC1RRKT.

This series "The Pirates Trail" will be around 30 caches following the West shoreline of Lake Koycegiz. This lake is around 12.5kms in length and 4kms wide and at the time of hiding this cache there had been very heavy rainfall over a prolonged period which had raised the water level in the lake by 1 metre, an awful lot of water considering the size of the lake, parts of Koycegiz and tourist locations like the Sultaniye Mudbaths were flooded as a result, local elders say that it has been 45 years since they last saw anything like it.
Ancient City of Kaunos
Blokiebloke and ourselves have placed a series of caches in this area to take you to all parts of this ancient city. This cache takes you up to the carpark area with the entrance being easy to miss if you are not concentrating, from here you will get views up to the castle and down onto Dalyan. There is no fee payable for this cache but there will be if you wish to enter the old city to do the other five on this part of the trail.
