2012 Challenge: 12x12 -Minnesota Style Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

rosebud55112: As described in the original writeup, the intended lifetime for this cache was through late March 2013. It's had a little bit more than this, but time to go to the big archival file in the sky. Thanks to all who participated in the challenge!

Geocache Description:

CACHE IS AT POSTED POSITION, BUT REQUIRES CACHING-RELATED OBJECTIVES BE PERFORMED BEFORE LOGGING. 'FOUND IT' LOGS NOT MEETING THE PREREQUISITES WILL BE ELIMINATED. PLEASE NOTE: ONLY FINDS/ATTENDS YOU MADE IN 2012 IN THE STATE OF MINNESOTA MAY BE USED FOR THIS CHALLENGE PLEASE DO NOT SIGN THIS CACHE LOG UNTIL YOU HAVE QUALIFIED FOR THE CHALLENGE. "FINDS" REQUIRE A SIGNED LOGBOOK AFTER THE CHALLENGE REQUIREMENTS HAVE BEEN MET.

In honor of 2012, I've set out a 12x12 Challenge. In order to log the Challenge, you must meet 12 of the qualifications below:

1. Find 12 Traditional Caches.
2. Find 12 non-Traditional Caches.
3. Find at least one cache each day for 12 (or more) consecutive days.
4. Find at least 12 caches in a single day.
5. Find at least one cache in each of 12 Minnesota counties.
6. Find 12 caches with different (D/T) ratings.
7. Find 12 caches placed by 12 different cache owners.
8. Find at least one geocache in each of twelve different Minnesota State Parks.
9. Find at least 12 caches in a Minnesota State Forest.
10. Attend 12 Events (Regular, CITO or Mega) in Minnesota.
11. Find at least one cache in each month (January, February, etc.)
12. Find at least one cache placed in each month (January, February, etc.--any year of placement)
13. Find 12 caches with the SNOW (Available during Winter), SNOWMOBILES, SNOWSHOES, and/or CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING attributes.
14. Find 12 caches (island or submerged) within the confines of a Minnesota lake (Something big enough to be called 'Lake X' or 'X Lake' on Google Maps).
15. Find 12 caches placed in wayside rests.
16. Find 12 caches placed to honor different geocachers.

None of those should be too difficult to do, and you get to choose which 12 categories you want to do.

Three caveats: Because this is a Minnesota challenge, all cache finds/placements must be in the state of Minnesota. Also, because this is a 2012 challenge, all cache finds must have occurred between January 1st and December 31st, 2012. Caches found prior to publication of this cache may be used, as long as the finds occurred in 2012.

For #14, we'll use the standard posted coordinates, so that Mystery and Multi caches don't have to give any clues to their final locations. That means that the physical cache container may not be within the lake boundaries.

The expected lifetime for this cache will be until late March 2013. That should give anyone who meets the qualifications in 2012 a reasonable amount of time to log this cache. Unforeseen events may extend or shorten that timeframe.

You do not have to submit a listing of your qualifying caches, but please note which twelve categories you have met, and be prepared to show me. Any single cache find may be used in more than one category. I suppose it may be possible to qualify for this challenge with as few as a dozen caches, although I sincerely doubt it. I will be checking with finders to verify that they have met the challenge qualifications in private. I'm a benevolent dictator.
