This cache is located near the new(ish) estates of Pencarn and Celtic Horizons.
It is in an interesting location for those wanting to take a walk into the countryside and for railway enthusiasts.
The lane which the cache is located by is the old Pencarn Lane that runs down along side a drainage ditch. This is because this area is at sea level and therefore needs the ditches to ensure that it does not flood.
The lane used to be the service road from what is now the A48 between Cardiff and Newport and the coast road.
When the Celtic Horisons housing estate was built, the lane was primarily closed off to traffic for most of it's length and has been left open for servicing of the drainage ditches and as a foot path.
This cache is worth 'bagging' on a walk from this area of Newport and then along the coast.
