If you are traveling South from Ocala you should get into the left
lane as you approach it. Just as you pass the Sheriff's Office turn
on your left turn signal and exit onto the grass. No panic as this
divided area is about two blocks long. There is plenty of room to
pull off the highway and it is quite smooth. The little forest
hides some huge concrete bridge abutments, which were built around
1935 for the Cross-Florida Bridge Canal. You will see one of them
near the cache and as you look at it through the trees it gives the
feeling you are in a deep jungle with a scene from a adventure
movie. Kinda of spooky!
The cache is located near the mowed area of which you should
have turned off the highway onto. If you are going into the woods
from the East it a much longer trek! I would suggest you take the
Southern lane.
The cache should be covered with pine needles. It originally
contained the following:
- Cow juice glass
- sealed bottle of water
- pencil with green bear eraser
- Tiger sign for your car or window
- Pair of barrettes
Happy hunting and watch our upcoming
other caches.
