Geocache Description:

6/9/14 - Replaced missing container and moved it about ten feet to a less visible spot. Still hidden in the exact same manner. --------------------12/19/12 - DUE TO SANDY'S DESTRUCTION I HAVE MOVED THIS CACHE SLIGHTLY AND CHANGED THE CONTAINER FROM A SMALL LOCK N LOCK TO A BRING YOUR OWN PEN SIZE CONTAINER. THIS MAY BE A TEMPORARY CHANGE DEPENDING ON WHEN AND HOW REPAIRS ARE MADE TO THE AREA. -----

This cache is a park and grab with a high degree of difficulty due to extreme muggle activity during warm weather. During the winter the difficulty could be a zero at times because the area is completely deserted. This cache replaces Shark which was in the area but archived. Whale Creek separates Middlesex and Monmouth Counties and the two towns of Cliffwood Beach. Prior to GPS units this duplicate naming of towns caused much confusion for delivery people relying on county maps to get to delivery destinations. I speak from experience on this topic. This is the approximate location of the Cat n Fiddle restaurant. The restaurant was located at the north end of the Cliffwood Beach boardwalk, having been constructed in 1926. At the other end of the boardwalk was the Cliffwood Beach Pool which was constructed three years later. In the years that followed this was a thriving summer community with bungalows, bathhouses, concessionstands, arcades, miniature golf courses and tennis courts. It remained a popular resort until 1960 when Hurricane Donna virtually wiped it off the map. An article about Donna's destruction can be found in The Matawan Journal by following this link: http://173.12.11.248/DATA/1950-73/1960/1960-09-15.pdf ---------Please replace exactly as you found it and please use stealth when required.--------- Congrats to smittyfletch for FTF!!!
