Persistence of Vision (night cache) Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

fmoraes: It is with much sadness that I am archiving this. I went to check on the first stage and it was missing again. Given that nobody found it after the last replacement, I won't bring it back here again. I retrieved the final as well, see attached photos.

Thanks to all finders and I hope to make a POV 2.0 sometime next year near by new abode.

If you have any photos of the original version, please feel free to share it.

Geocache Description:

The posted coordinates are for the trail head.

The human eye is an amazing piece of work. It can distinguish about 10 million colors and movement. Even though it is amazing, it can be easily "deceived" by fast refresh of a picture or drawing.

From flip books where several drawings are flipped quickly and appear to be in motion to television and computer screens, the persistence of vision of the human eye is explored to give the appearance of movement or continuity.

This cache exploits this effect to show you the coordinates to the final cache container. You are looking for the digits that complete the final coordinate: N 35 5x.xxx W 78 5x.xxx. Follow the instructions found on stage 1 on how to operate. You may want to bring 2 AA batteries just in case the ones provided are no longer working.

Stage one can be found at: N 35° 51.092 W 078° 53.407

NOTES:

  1. This cache contains electronics and should not be be attempted during rain or under wet conditions
  2. I don't know how well it will operate during very cold nights
  3. There are no reflective tacks, just follow the trails and you will get close to stage one and the final without having to worry about the creeks in between
  4. Please replace it exactly as found and don't forget to remove the batteries!
  5. This is the RTP Mountain Bike and Hiking trails. You can find more information here
  6. If the final coordinates give you trouble, try adjusting the coordinates by +.002 +.001
