Quick easy multi to ensure you don't miss the great view. Parking close by. Also approachable up the zigzag track at end of beach if you feel like a bit of a workout. Using the obvious identifying numbers in front of you to work out the cache coordinates, cache is located at S 36° 47.ABC E 175° 05.XYZ where A=1st number minus 1, B=2nd number plus 5, C=3rd number minus 1, X=6th number minus 5, Y=5th number minus 3, Z=4th number plus 6.
WAIHEKE ISLAND was discovered and settled by Maori approximately 1000 years ago. The first traces of Europeans arrived with the missionary Samuel Marsden in the early 1800s, several years after Captain Cook passed by and acknowledged the island in his travels through the Hauraki Gulf. A ferry ride away from Auckland, Waiheke Island is a picturesque blend of farmland, forest, beaches, vineyards and olive groves. Onetangi beach’s two kilometre stretch of white sand is great for water activities such as windsurfing, swimming and the occasional surf. The beach is lined with houses and has some great cafe and restaurant dining options.
