Geocache Description:

This multi-stage cache is designed to be interesting and easy.

The first stage takes you to a winter home of the Bald Eagle. They can be seen from late November through March. A good time to visit is the last weekend in January when telescopes are setup to watch the great birds. Stop in the visitors’ center, watch boats go through the locks and take in the view of Starved Rock. To get there, go to N41 19.503 W88 59.161. (The visitor’s center closes at 5 P.M.)

Take note of the diameter of the object on display. Take the diameter and add it to N41 19.565 W88 54.707. Add the number to 565 as 565 + diameter and 707 as 707 + diameter. For example, if the diameter were 10 you would have N41 19.575 W88 54.717.

The second stop takes you to Buffalo Rock State Park, where you can see three Buffalo. (As well as a number of other man made critters.) A mining operation left the land bare for a period of years before it was restored in an interesting way.

Take the number of years the land was bare and add it to N41 19.663 W88 54.759 to go to the final stage of the cache which has been relocated to meet DNR requirements.

The cache is a clear, medium size container.
