As children, we tend to remember
when we get close to home by landmarks we see, rather than by
streets and names.
Growing up in the Barossa, one of
our childhood landmarks was the Monkey Nut tree, which can be seen
on the hill above the cache.
This tree is in fact a pine,
planted many years before we were born on the top of Pewsey Vale
Peak. Over the years it has grown into a very distinctive shape
that can be easily recognised from great distances.
As we travel down the Sturt
Highway, Main North Road or Malalla Road (to mention a few), a
glimpse to the left is a comforting reminder that we’re
nearly home.
If you have things that remind
you of home as you approach, feel free to share them in your
log.
NOTE: Please park as close to GZ as
possible due to poor sight lines along this road.
