Geocache Description:

Prayer wheels found at stage 1

This is a 5-step multi-cache built to inspire you. It is located in the Greenwood neighborhood in North Seattle. The listed coordinates will take you to the Sakya Tibetan Monestery where you will begin your journey to answer questions, solving for the Final coordinates where you will find the cache. The total walking distance round trip is about one mile. Enjoy!

Important: Bring your own pen or pencil to log the cache.

Most people have never visited the Sakya Monastery located in a quiet residential area of North Seattle. It is one of the few Tibetan Monasteries in the United States. The building was built in 1928 as a Christian church. Over the years, different Christian denominations have owned the building. In 1984, the building was sold to become the Tibetan Monestery.

We've lived in the neighborhood for years, and have kept the monastery on our list of cool walkable places. Our family enjoys the walk along quiet streets, the stupa in the front, and the chance to spin the prayer wheels. Greenwood has a lot going for it, as you will soon see.

STAGE ONE (Tibetan Monestery)
Count the prayer wheels. The count digits are AB. Be sure to count all prayer wheels and do not rely on the number listed on the sign. It might not be correct!

STAGE TWO - N47°41.414 W122°21.313
Now that you are inspired, you can have a creative WRITING adventure at CDEF Greenwood Avenue N.

STAGE THREE - N47°41.390 W122°21.329
When you've addressed your sweet craving, you'll be at GHIJ Greenwood Ave N.

STAGE FOUR - N47°41.254 W122°21.310
Around and around the post you go. Count the red bricks on the bottom row. The count of the first row of bricks supporting this freestanding pillar is KL. Then look for the address (look high!). The address is MNOP.

FINAL LOCATION: N47 BI.K(K+L)(C-M) W122 KO.(I-E)(H-L)(J-A)
For newbies to Multi-Caches, please note that our coordinate equation involves adding and subtracting (no multiplying) and you want to end up with latitude and longitude in the following format: N47 XX.XXX and W122 XX.XXX. We hope you fun with it! Also, please note that the property owner of the final location has given permission to hide this cache. The final cache is not located on residential property. There is no building within 50 feet of this cache. You will need to bring your own pen or pencil to log this cache.
