Geocache Description:

This is the enhanced or 'S' version of the Omaha rock hop cache. It's longer and there's more to see. The only catch is you have to watch the tide. You can make this a great day walk to Tawharanui.

This is a cache is part of a series of caches I'm working on that highlight New Zealand's beautiful coasts and encourage people to clean them up. Please read more here, I'm looking for help!

There are two main routes, you can walk from Tawharanui (one hour return from Anchor Bay) or from Omaha (two hours return from the end of Omaha Beach).

There is a handy car park down the southern end of Omaha with a playground for the kids or the car park at Anchor bay at Tawharanui, see additional waypoints. It should also be noted the road to Tawharanui is unsealed and fairly precarious.

Tide is the main issue make sure you are not caught at high tide! If you time it right you can walk from Omaha to Tawharanui, do all the great caches there and return in about four or five hours. There are lots of rock pools with neat critters in them.

Unlike other caches I'm requesting that you bring a bag along and pick up some rubbish if you see it. This beautiful area is very tidal and not often visited so rubbish is sometimes found on parts of the walk. Let's help keep it clean for all its marine inhabitants!

This is designed to be an easy find cache with the emphasis on the location. Log and pencil are also available inside.
