Knox's Rocks Box Traditional Cache

This is a traditional ammo box cache in the Newark Watershed area. A hiking permit is required. You can obtain one at the NWCDC office at 223 Echo Lake Road in Newfoundland, NJ (973-697-2850) for $12 and it is valid for the entire year.
***NEW PARKING COORDINATES (3/17/12)*** Parking is just a roadside pull-off big enough for maybe 3 cars and is located at N 41º 04.372, W 74º 26.902. The posted signs indicate you MAY enter the woods there with a permit. There is another pull-off that is even closer to the cache site, but new signs have been posted stating that you MAY NOT enter the woods there. The cache is a short bushwhack (less than 10 minutes) across easy wooded terrain from the new posted parking coordinates below. This cache was placed on 12/31/11, in honor of our son's first birthday. Our son went on the hunt for his first geocache while in utero and has found several with us in his first year. We wanted to put this one out for him. We also are putting a travel bug in this cache titled "15 Points". It is made up of three Scrabble tiles with his initials on them which add up to 15 Scrabble points. The cache is a standard size ammo box filled with all new items. It is not an extremely difficult cache to find; the terrain rating is only a 3 because of a pretty steep last 20-30 feet. At the cache site you'll have a great view of two waterfalls and will be able to see the remnants of an old iron forge. Happy birthday, buddy!
