Geocache Description:

There aren't many Letterbox Caches in the area, so we thought we'd place one. The cache container is an ammo box. It possesses a stamp and ink pad, a log book, and lots of swag.

The coordinates listed ARE NOT the final coordinates of the cache. To reach the cache you must begin at the original coordinates: N 32d 18.764m, W 89d 41.007m. These coordinates are located at the parking lot of the boat ramp.

From the Point-of-Beginning you may take the direct approach using a coordinate project on your GPSr or you can use the adventurous approach using a compass and your semi-calibrated pace.

If you choose the wimpy projection method, compute a projection of 211 degrees with a distance of 296 feet from the original position. This should land you very near Ground Zero.

If you choose the more adventurous method - which I recommend - start at the original coordinates and proceed as follows:

From this location you will navigate 5 legs of a course to reach Ground Zero. A compass would probably be very helpful unless you're very directionally gifted. You can also do coordinate projections if you do some approximate mathematics (# of paces * 3 feet) from the original coordinates and work your way around the traverse. Be advised that the bearings used are oriented clockwise from north and may have some variance depending on your location and magnetic attraction. To compensate for the variance, I have included descriptions of landmarks associated with the ending point of each course. Instead of using feet as the distance measurement, we're using paces. A pace will be defined as approximately 3 feet. Ready? Hear we go....

From the beginning point near the rear of the parking lot, said point being at the top of a trail of cross-ties leading to the roadway, run thence 240 degrees (S 60d W) a distance of 75 paces to a point near a frisbee golf goal; thence 235 degrees (S 55d W) a distance of 90 paces to an 18" oak tree located on the bank of the creek; thence 210 degrees (S 30d W) a distance of 13 paces to a pedestrian bridge; thence 145 degrees (S 55d E) a distance of 47 paces to a rope bridge (old foot bridge); thence 60 degrees (N 60d E) a distance of 50 paces to a 24" beech tree. Ta da!

There is a log book and a stamp in the cache. Please utilize these as required. Upon completion, place replace the container in its original location and hide it better than how you found it.

Happy hunting!
