The Code Talkers
The Choctaw Indians pioneered Code Talking in WWI. However, more people are familiar with the Navajo Code Talkers in WWII. The Navojo weren't the only tribe Code Talkers who contributed in WWII. There were also Cherokee, Choctaw, Lakota, Meskwaki, and Commanche tribes. The Hollywood movie called, Wind Talkers (2002) with Nicolas Cage tells the story of Navajo Code Talkers.
They were small band of soldiers who created an unbreakable code from the ancient language of their people and changed the course of modern history. Known as Navajo Code Talkers, they were young Navajo men who transmitted secret communications on the battlefields of WWII. At a time when America's cryptographers were falling short, these modest sheepherders and farmers were able to fashion the most ingenious secret code in military history. They drew upon their proud warrior tradition to brave the dense jungles of Guadalcanal and the exposed beachheads of Iwo Jima. They served with distinction in every major engagement in the Pacific from 1942-1945. Their unbreakable code played a pivotal role in saving countless lives and hastening the end of the war.

The last living Code Talker named Keith M. Little died on January 5th, 2012. The Code Talkers are inspiration and dedication for this Geocache puzzle.
