Bushranger Ted (A.K.A Ted from Timber Creek).
A search for a local legend.
As a youngster travelling to this area, camping with friends and family.
Around the campfire each night I was told stories from the 'olden days' to warn me to keep near the camp and not to wander into the deep dark bush.
Now after the years have passed (no, not too many!!) I need your help to decipher whether my relatives were telling the truth or were just telling tall tales.
Ted from Timber Creek, was fierce and mean and cruel.
Ted tormented the villages and localities northwest of Wauchope. Bushranger Ted would ride into Wauchope-town to gather supplies on the odd occassion.
Ted from Timber Creek, was so ruthless that the then government put a rather large reward on his head.
dead or alive.
Ted was so sort after, everytime he rode into town Police and citizens had a 'shot' at capturing him, with others lining the street to watch.
One gun savvy local aimed well and took out Ted's eye.
The locals thought they had him then, gone!
but Ted was tenacious and simply reached into his saddlebag and took out one of his precious gems and placed it where his eye used to be and rode on.
No man could better this bushranger from the nor-west.
The only one to bet him was............................
Mother Nature as Ted has since fallen somewhere in the bush.
Now after all these years, people seek his skull for the gem and his lost treasure and roam the forest in the depth of night or the clear light of day. All seeking riches and adventure.

Whether or not you succeed have swim to cool off afterwards in the nearby river.
Remember this is the bush so be bush aware and watch out for snakes, ticks and spiders.
