How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

THE CACHE: a large box with about 15 books for swaps. Books up to the size of a large paperback (22x14cm ish) are suitable, plus one large thin (children's) book on top. There should be a fair selection.

You shouldn’t have to take the box out of its hidey hole- just remove the lid. It’s obviously important that the cache doesn’t get wet inside- all books are inside their own sealed bag to help keep them dry. Please let me know if the inside of the cache gets wet.

Stealth may be required- please be careful... much easier if you leave the box in situ, but there is a nice grassy bank on which to sit and read a book to look inconspicuous!

AS THE BOX IS SO BIG IT NEEDS TO REMAIN WELL HIDDEN- please make sure it is in its hollow and not visible after your visit.

Please come with a book if you want to swap.
There is also room for trackables.

THE PATH: There is an orientation/interpretation board near the cache.
The cache is beside a path on the Delnies circuit (about 6 km)- a mix of farm and woodland, with 2 crossings of the A96

You can also walk 5-10 mins north across the golf course to get to the sea or to then walk east along the side of the golf course to Nairn seafront.

The leaflet 'Paths Around Nairn', from the community centre or library has these paths marked on.

THE TREE: Don’t forget to admire the tree, the finest in this line of Scots pines, and not a bad one to lean against whilst you read a new book…

NEAREST PARKING: At the end of Altonburn Road
