Toru Oga

Chef Toru Oga began his career by training in Kyoto under the guidance of traditional master sushi chefs. Chef Oga distinguished himself from his peers in Kyoto by infusing nontraditional, western elements to his cuisine thus beginning his expansion internationally. He settled in Hong Kong for 7 years working at several high-end sushi restaurants before coming to the United States.

In 1993, Oga partnered to open GINZA sushi restaurants in Chinatown and Brookline. In 2001, OGA’s Japanese Cuisine was opened and within a year was awarded 3 ½ stars by the Boston Globe. The restaurant offers a broad range of Japanese cooking from sushi to kaiseki. Chef Oga also serves as a chef consultant to Takumi in Nashua, Shabu Shabu Toki in Brighton, and Sushi-Teq at the Intercontinental Hotel Boston.
