Geocache Description:

Park here to do the Cheese Run rail trail series. Very limited parking at other end of rail trail. This one's a little tricky - it is disguised well. This geocache is kind of fragile - please handle with care.

The farmers of New Braintree sent 200 tons of cheese, butter, and pork to market in Boston in 1822 by wagon. The charge for overland freight during the 20’s and early 30’s was about $10 per ton. Shipping via the railroad reduced cost to about $3.50 per ton. The stone monument near GZ pays tribute to the train station that was once located here. The large hole in the ground behind GZ was where the station once stood. Enjoy your walk down this very scenic rail trail along the Ware River.
