Geocache Description:

Cache could be a nice TB hotel off Route 32. I have two in there to start.

The farmers of New Braintree sent 200 tons of cheese, butter, and pork to market in Boston in 1822 by wagon. The charge for overland freight during the 20’s and early 30’s was about $10 per ton. Shipping via the railroad reduced cost to about $3.50 per ton. From the milking of the cows, to the hauling of the milk, to the churning of the butter and the processing of the cheese, the work was anything but easy and it was just a small part of the duties performed primarily by women on the farms in early America.
