Sadly, many bowling alleys in this area have slowly been disappearing over the last several decades.
I think bowling is a great sport that all ages can enjoy and I hope we don't lose any more alleys.
Fortunately the bowling alleys (or centers as many like to be called) seem to be working
hard to keep people coming, offering a fun place to have birthday parties, corporate
get-togethers and a place to hang with your friends on a Friday night.
I'm dedicating this series of caches to bowling alleys, past and present, along the Peninsula.
First up is Sea Bowl, thought by many to have the most beautiful location for a bowling center.
It opened in 1958, when the City of Pacifica was still in its infancy.
The name was changed for a while in the 80s to Pacific Coast Lanes
for some reason, but I don't think it was a very popular change.
Besides lovely views of the Pacific, Sea Bowl has 32 bowling lanes, an arcade room,
a billiard room, a grill and bar plus a party room for whatever you might be celebrating.
To discover the location of this cache (which isn't at the posted coordinates but does
have a view of the bowl and a nearby restaurant), you'll need to see how you score.
(In case you need some help, this seems to be a pretty good tutorial: www.bowlingballgalaxy.com/how-to-keep-score-in-bowling/ )
I didn't see any poison oak in the immediate area but, as always, keep an eye out for it.
Coordinates are N 37° AB.CDE W 122° FG.HJK
