Geocache Description:

There are breathtaking views over Wensleydale from Leyburn 'Shawl', just a short walk from the Market Place. The escape route of Mary Queen of Scots from nearby Bolton Castle, the 'Shawl' is thought to be so named after she dropped her shawl there.

This beautiful limestone escarpment was bought by Leyburn Council for the benefit of local people and visitors

On a clear day the 5/10 minute walk from Leyburn Market Place offers some of the best views of Wensleydale, on a poor day it can be cold and windy !

Please note that the path along The Shawl can be muddy at times, appropriate footwear should be worn.

The cache is a 35mm cannister and you will need to take a pen or pencil.
