Geocache Description:

The name “Kishwauketoe” comes from a Potawatomi Indian word that means “clear water.”  This 230 acre parcel was purchased by the village of Williams Bay in 1989 in order to preserve it from further development. There are over 4 miles of trails running through the conservancy, which features a variety of ecosystems. One of the features of KNC is the bee yard, which was started in 2011, but, as of this year, appears no longer active.  The cache is hidden near a trail that functions as a cross-country ski trail when there’s snow.  The signs that tell you not to walk on the trail refer to ski season.  During those times, hikers should walk off to the side to avoid damaging the ski track.  Although dogs are allowed in KNC, they are not allowed on this trail during ski season.  The cache is hidden within sight of, but not near, the former site of the beehives.  Parking coordinates are near a trailhead that provides a moderate hike to the cache site.  Parking along Highway 50 is not recommended.  No after-dark searches, please.  Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy is open from dawn until dusk.  For more information regarding bees, go to http://www.gpnc.org/honeybee.htm
