Geocache Description:




Think Amazing Race meets Survivor, all done while paddling around a course that covers three-ish miles. Last year we had geocachers come from all over California, plus some adventurers from Nevada. All levels of paddlers attended from novice to the hardcore, as you looked out at the group there were kayaks, canoes, inflatable crafts of all shapes & sizes.

In keeping with the "open to all" theme.......we are returning to the day use area of Lake Natoma
This year is going to be bigger & better! All we need is water & some crazy geocachers. We are lucky to have some of the areas most creative cachers involved in this event.

Team requirements: Minimum people per team 2. Maximum people per team 6. To try and keep it fair we would ask that each team have a minimum of two watercrafts.

This will be a timed course with teams departing the launch area every 10 minutes. We will be placing caches and setting up checkpoints along the route. Each team member is required to participate in the checkpoint challenges. The team with the best time after correctly completing the course will be the winner. Awards will be awarded at the after paddle picnic.

Some things to know:
  • The access road is off Greenback Lane.
  • There is a $10.00 per vehicle entrance fee with NO launch fee for kayaks/canoes.
  • There is a kayak rental place at Negro Bar.
  • We will draw names at 10:30AM to determine each teams starting time.
  • The first team will leave at 11:00AM.
  • The day use area offers shade, BBQ`s and tables.
  • Bring water, sunscreen, life vests and sensible shoes.
  • Bring a chair and something to eat for the after-paddle picnic.
