At our house, we love to play games. We also enjoy learning about the history, like who invented it and what else are they known for, which makes it a learning experience.
Recently we had a power outage while we were in the middle of a Playstation game. After the candles were lit, we sat around trying to figure out what we could do to pass the time. The adults decided it was a good time for a drink and the kids Evy, Greg, and John thought they would play Tic-Tac-Toe. The only problem was that Tic-Tac-Toe is a 2 player game.
The kids decided that they would make up their own method which would allow for 3 people to play at the same time and give Evy a slight advantage, being that she was the youngest and was not happy about losing! They decided that Evy would get to make 2 marks after each turn (sometimes she made more but John and Greg were okay with that).
The kids pulled out one of our whiteboards and played 5 games (shown below) before the power came back on. Greg didn't participate in one of the games because he got up to get snacks.
The kids were very excited about their variation on Tic-Tac-Toe and proudly displayed their games to us. John started laughing (a little bit insanely if you ask me) and said, "I see coordinates in there!". After explaining his method to his cohorts, and uttering something about Chutes and Ladders, they assembled a container and we drove them out to place it.
The terrain rating is really a 1.5 right up to the cache but gets higher from there.
