INDIANA
SPIRIT QUEST #330
”Two for
Tuesday"
Welcome to the
Fall Creek Union Cemetery and the Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery,
Center Township, Marion County on the near east side of
Indianapolis. This is a wonderful pair urban cemeteries located
just off of Millersville Road. Please stay within the cemetery
fence and be respectful of the nearby church as it is nearly always
occupied. FOR YOUR SAFETY PLEASE DO NOT CACHE AT NIGHT HERE! A
printed "Cemetery Readings & Locator Map" can be picked up
directly behind the blue Fall Creek Union Cemetery sign. This
handout lists the owners of the plots in BOTH cemeteries. The Fall
Creek Union Cemetery was established in 1813 while the Ebenezer
Lutheran Cemetery was established in 1836. From looking at the
sites one would believe the dates are reversed for these two
sites.

One of the most striking features in the Ebenezer Cemetery is
the grave stone of Mahala Bowers who died in 1900. I have been in
many cemeteries within the past year and must admit seeing a hand
extending upward is a little creepy.

This is the grave of William T Riggs who died in 1862. Pvt. William
T. Riggs was a member of Co. E, 26th Indiana Vol. Infantry. They
were mustered into service at Indianapolis in Aug. 1861. He died
while the regiment was guarding the Pacific RR at Sedalla,
Missouri. His grave has a US veteran marker and US flag.

The Fall Creek Union Cemetery contains very large and ornate grave
markers of every kind imaginable. Several have very detailed
sculptures.

The Grave of Revolutionary War veteran Jacob Ringer Sr is located
in the Ebenzer Cemetery. This grave was re-dedicated June, 18 of
2006 by the Sons of the American Revolution.
The cache container is is a 35mm canister.
Please leave it at least as well concealed, if not better, than you
found it. If you find fallen or worn US flags at the graves of
veterans, please take a moment to upright or replace them. Dispose
of worn US flags in a respectable manner. If you find
the coordinates to be a little off, do not hesitate to post a
waypoint with your log. As always, be respectful, and cache
in, trash out.
