Cedar Falls Park

On January 23, 2009, the Greenville County Recreation District announced that it will use funds from the Colonial Pipeline settlement to create its first blue trail. A 90-acre passive park has been created at Cedar Falls on the Reedy River. 17.5 acres will be purchased upstream at New Harrison Bridge Road to create a 7.8 mile paddling trail down to the park. This trip will be mostly flatwater, with a few small ledges. Whitewater boaters may enjoy park and play at the falls.

Huff Creek in Fork Shoals to Cedar Shoals

According to the Greenville County Recreation District, “At this site in southern Greenville County the Reedy River widens to over 200 feet cascading over rocks and boulders to create one of the most geologically significant vistas on the river. The site dates back to the early 1800 when it housed an industry and an electric generating plant.”

The Cedar Falls Park site is being developed into a passive park with trails, picnic groves, historic interpretative signs, and a playground.

Walking out onto the remnants of the old dam to view the shoals is not permitted. Please respect the gate and obey posted signs. The fishing—and Geocaching!—near this spot are purported to be quite good!
