Geocache Description:

The cache is near a small tributary of the River Derwent – a side stream. There is no need to cross any fences or to go near the water. Best approach is enjoy a walk on the path near the river either from the South or the North. However you can stop at a few places on Alfreton Road at queiter times which is a two or 3 minute walk away over one stile.

This is the fourth Kitty Baily cache first placed 10:30am  22-01-2012.

The small brook (stream) nearby which gives this cache its name runs from three sources.

The first is near Lime Lane north of Oakwood (known as Ferriby Brook).

The second is in the grounds of Broomfield Hall (Known as Dam Brook nearby).

The third is in the grounds of, Bredsall Priory (Boosemoor Brook).

The brook then flows though Bredsall than under the A61, across part of the route of the old Derby canal running up to Little Eaton, ending up, after going near this cache in the Derwent north of Chester Green.

There are three ways to approach:

1) From the South up from Haslam’s Lane near Derby Rugby Club, or better still, if arriving by car, parking at Chester Green about a mile to the South and walking up from there.

2) The longest approach is from the north along the Eastern side of the Derwent starting north of the A38 and taking the foot path under that road.

3) The shortest route is from Alfreton Road. Watch out for traffic on the busy Alfreton Road.  The path down to the cache from there is located at the boundary of the 30mph and national speed limit zones.  Parking is poor in the immediate vicinity during working hours, with most of it being forecourt and entrances owned by the various businesses nearby. Be sure not to block entrances.  Further to the south there is on-road parking here and there.

You will need to cross one style approaching from the east or two from the west.
