Na popud hraběte Filipa z Lobkowicz a hraběte Františka Karla Clary- Aldringena došlo na počátku 18. století ke snaze silou změnit víru zdejších protestantských obyvatel Cínovce na katolické vyznání. Obyvatelé Cínovce s evangelickou vírou však raději zvolili odchod do protestantského Saska, aby nemuseli opustit své vyznání. Na české straně Cínovce byla pak založena roku 1728 samostatná římsko-katolická farnost. Později byl mezi léty 1729 až 1733 vystavěn Barokní kostel Nanebevzetí Panny Marie. Kostel obepíná starý horský hřbitov se zajímavou minulostí.
Dne 8. 5. 1945 se z těchto míst přesouvala ku Praze Sovětská armáda na pomoc českému obyvatelstvu při pražském povstání proti německým okupantům.
V roce 2005 byl vysazen na nové místo buk jako upomínka na původní statný buk, jež značil hranici mezi Českým královstvím a Saskem. Tento původní buk musel bohužel ustoupit při stavbě nově budované silnici k německým hranicím.
Poblíž kostela jsou běžecké tratě a rybník, ve kterém se můžete v parných letních dnech příjemně osvěžit

Auf Betreiben von Graf Philipp von Lobkowitz und Graf Franz Karl von Clary wurde Anfang des 18. Jahrhunderts versucht, den protestantischen Bewohnern von Böhmisch-Zinnwald (Cínovec) den katholischen Glauben aufzuzwingen. Diese entgingen dem Zwang, indem sie über die Grenze ins protastantische Sachsen gingen. In Böhmisch-Zinnwald wurde daraufhin 1728 eine eigene Pfarrei gegründet und bis 1732 die Barockkirche “Maria Himmelfahrt” errichtet.
Die Barockkirche stammt aus den Jahren 1729 – 1733. Sie ist von einem Friedhof mit interessanter Vergangenheit umgeben. Am 8. 5. 1945 zog hier die sowjetische Armee vorbei, um dem Prager Aufstand Hilfe zu leisten. Im Jahre 2005 wurde eine neue Buche anstelle der ehemaligen Grenzbuche gesetzt, die einst die Grenze zwischen Sachsen und dem Bömischen Königreich markierte. Die ursprüngliche Buche musste dem Straßenbau weichen. In der Nähe der Barockkirche befinden sich Langlaufloipen und ein Teich, wo man im Sommer angenehme Erfrischung findet

At the instigation of Count Philipp Franz von Lobkowitz and Count Karl von Clary was the beginning of the 18th Century tried to force the Protestant inhabitants of Bohemia-Zinnwald (Cínovec) the Catholic faith.
