Geocache Description:

This 3 mile 2 hour walk of 5 caches (and an extra bonus if you haven't already picked up my Wand-er to Cockington cache), takes in the paths and trails that make up part of the extended Cockington Country Park, starting and finishing in the higher "Little Cockington" area.

Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust describes the area "Only a mile from Torquay seafront, the Domesday Book village of Cockington has hardly changed through the centuries. Come and explore this special village, its historic 17th century manor house and the 460 acres of parkland, woodland and farmland surrounding it.

The Trust manages a nationally important group of deciduous trees (hickories) in Cockington Country Park."

More info on this lovely area of Torbay, including the Craft Studios and Organic Garden, can be found here - Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust

If you've never been to Cockington a visit to the Village is a must (and its got a cracking pub to boot!).

The walk is intended to begin from the outskirts of Shiphay in Torquay where the paths down to Cockington begin - it can also be done in reverse starting at no.5 which is nearest the pub and car parks of cockington.

The terrain is countryside paths and trails (unfortunately not wheelchair or buggy friendly), and a bit up and down some rolling hills but on the plus side does offer some cracking views in places (no.4 is particularly good).

You'll also pass a number of other local caches which if you haven't got yet are definetely recommended to extend your walk and pick up on route (King Kabatour being my favourite find to date).

Have fun out there (FTF badge for this one)

If you prefer No.5 could also be a start to this walk if you're
visiting Cockington Village - or if you're finishing nip
down the road for a refreshing pint in the Inn before
trekking back to parking.
