BE BRAVE, MY SWEET BABBOO! -- SALLY Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

forthebeautyoftheearth: It looks like the contents of the cache have disappeared. I was going to archive this one a while back, but decided to keep it going a little longer to give walkers on the new trail a chance to grab it. I'm planning on planting more Peanuts closer to home and am closing down the further ones. Thanks to all who made the adventure to get Sally! She will probably re-appear under a different story line and a lot closer to her beloved Sweet Babboo.

Geocache Description:

Sally Brown is Charlie Brown's younger sister. Like her brother, she has her fears and insecurities, but not to quite the extent of Charlie's. Like her brother, Sally also has a life-long crush, and that is on Charlie Brown's best friend, Linus. In fact, her special name for Linus is, "My Sweet Babboo!".

"Be Brave My Sweet Babboo!" is Sally's call of encouragement as Linus is stuck on a barn roof. He has deliberately climbed up there, having been the unwilling subject of an escalating war of rival loves--that of Sally and that of his old flame, Truffles. Truffles cache

Linus' eventual rescue is so bizarre that, well, you'll have to read the saga yourself. It starts on January 17, 1977 as Sally and Linus are on the bus on a field trip.

This cache--a 2-quart rubbermaid container--is the 26th in my Peanuts series and was placed on what might turn out to be the coldest day of 2012 (8 F in the middle of the afternoon). The scenery with the snow and ice was incredible! Some will be familiar with the site as that of the former "Nice Place to Have Lunch," one of my favorite caches. Sally is a little higher and should be safe from the water.

Please take note of efb01's unfortunate experience below regarding NY State Fairgrounds parking. The cache is not located on Fairgrounds property, but accessing it without going through the upper Fairgrounds property area will be more difficult. I am upping the terrain difficulty, as it appears a long hike from "Where's George on the Onondaga Waterfront" or a kayak ride on the lake itself are the current means of reaching the cache.
