Geocache Description:

Iron Man Multi Map

HUGE FTF congrats to Play cache and HookRN
Looks like we may not have aptly named this cache ;-)

Attempt at you own risk...

Currently 5 raging creeks to cross,
muddy trails to navigate,
cliffs to traverse,
and possibly trees to conquer.
Summer time trade off, no creeks or mud, no water at all, brutal heat, and rattle snakes.
This trek might even stretch the legs of the infamous Big Bear ;-)

Looked like we needed a 5x4 in our local area so we felt obliged. Ya, thats it ;-)
Yet another reason to play :-)

You will have opportunity to swap swag, two cans included in the series.

While exploring the route for this cache, we found yet another really cool new to us trail, our favorite to date, and wanted to share it with others.

This series may push you to finish in one day. Mrs. Rooks came up with the very fitting name. Iron canyon area and it will be a marathon to complete it. If you are looking to plant any, there is plenty of room and you will see where the next stages are in front of you. Just be sure to make sure you are clear of the others out here!

The main idea of this multi is to give you a chance to get many along the way. I have added a picture to help give you an idea in case you might want to load some of the other caches along the way . Following my route will give you a chance to get all of our ICST cache series along with some other really cool caches!

No matter how you slice it will be anywhere from 9 to 12 miles +-, crossing creeks, and interpreting trails along the way, should you choose to follow them. You will also need to find a total of 10 stages with a couple that will hopefully be "tricky". I think the rating is quite fair ;-)

I know the route and can ride approx. 90% of the trail, when dry, though it is VERY rocky and technical in areas. I would not recommend it for beginners, not that I'm a pro, novelist at best, just dont want to get anyone in trouble. I have foot woes so for me biking is the key. There is one section that is not ridable at all. I ditched the bike here and had to double back a bit, this added close to 1 mile extra.

Cache is a simple find a stage which will contain the coords for the next stage and on and on. Both first and last stages will have logs to be signed. To complete in one day you will want to start at the Iron Canyon trailhead. If you do not expect to finish it in one day you could team up and one of you park down at Paynes creek which you will have to wade across. This would give you a chance to knock the 1st 4 stages out, just a thought.

Guess thats enough of a description. No need to get crazy on the bushwhacking or cliff climbing. You will have some AWESOME views for this area. Get an early start, take some binoculars, camera and lunch. Adding a waypoint for a lunch spot as well, VERY COOL spot that we thoroughly enjoyed!

Guess I should mention, bring PLENTY of water and then some. Extra for your canine pals as well. Summer can be BRUTAL out here, even warm winters day can catch you off guard. And snakes, always a possibility, please be very cautious and wary of snakes.

Enjoy!Rooks
